I was born in Russia which, in itself, has taught me a great deal of character and perseverance. Growing up in Siberia was an experience worth having - from handling extreme sub-zero temperatures to enduring grueling, stereotypical Russian style training in judo at the age of 10 and on. It led me to Bronze in a national USSR competition but also to severe injuries which seemingly had put an end to my athletic career. That is when I dedicated myself to academics, learned English and began translating books, later on having moved to the US which is now my home.

In the meantime, the injuries led to a surgery with a prognosis of limited functionality and 4 titanium pins taking place of crushed cartlidge in my shoulder. But as we all know, sometimes the best comes out of the worst, and with consistent strength training I came into the beautiful world of bodybuilding.

In my first competitive season I made the finals at the Washington Ironman and followed it up with a second place at the NW Championships which qualified me for a National Contest. From there on I knew: the best was yet to come.

I strongly believe that our potential is always greater than our achievements and character and discipline leave no room for the impossible. As we cross the boundaries of the ordinary, making the most of ourselves, we have a chance to make this world a more beautiful place. And the best time to act is NOW.

With dedication to excellence,
Juliana Jade
